About Xan

Xan Palay lives in Columbus, Ohio. Palay has been an artist in residence at the Yaddo colony (Louise Bourgeois Endowed Residency),  Kohler Arts/Industry program, and the Contemporary Artist's Center in Massachusetts. She’s been a visiting artist at The Ohio State University; Aichi University of Education, Aichi, Japan, and at the Forest of Creation, Kanazu, Japan. In 2000 she installed a permanent public sculpture for SPACES gallery in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2003, Bead Game was installed in Kingston, NY as part of the Kingston Biennial. Solo installation and video shows include, How Nature Works, Weston Center for the Arts, Cincinnati,2002, As Wishes Still Helped, at the Columbus Museum of Art in 2005; These Things Still Travel Along Wires at the Springfield Museum of Art in 2006; and Run Back Home at the Ingenuity Festival in Cleveland. Palay's audio recording, An Introduction to Inequalities, was heard in the Sound Art Limo, curated by Holly Crawford, at the 2007 Melbourne International Arts Festival, Melbourne, Australia. Palay has received Individual Artist Fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council and Arts Midwest. She’s been an artist in residence in the Wexner Center For the Arts Film/Video post-production program twice, in 2010 and 2020 and works full-time as a creative director for a national consumer goods company.
